Aquatics programs built around every athlete
Canyon View Water Polo Association, Inc. delivers a complete water polo experience in Cedar City, Utah: youth development, competitive teams, aquatics education, team training, tournament hosting, and coaching pathways. Every service shares one goal — to keep more people in the water and playing the sport we love.
Youth Water Polo Programs
Our youth programs introduce swimmers aged ten to fourteen to the sport in a safe, structured, and genuinely fun setting. Athletes build the eggbeater kick, passing, shooting, and positioning through games-based drills that keep young players moving and smiling. Practices run twice a week during the school year with a summer intensives option, and weekend league games give players their first real match experience. Coaches at Canyon View Water Polo Association, Inc. group players by age and ability so every child is challenged without being overwhelmed. By the end of the first season, parents see measurable improvement in swimming confidence, teamwork, and attitude — not just in the pool but at school and at home.
- Twice weekly practices with a low athlete to coach ratio
- Weekend youth league matches and friendly scrimmages
- Season-end showcase event for families and friends
Competitive Teams
Our competitive squads follow the USA Water Polo pathway from regional league play to state and national competition. Athletes train on a demanding calendar that pairs in-water conditioning with tactical preparation, film review, and sport psychology basics. Coaches maintain a skill card for every player, set individual season goals, and review progress with families at scheduled checkpoints. Competitive teams travel to tournaments across the western region, and our open team provides an outlet for high school and college-age athletes to keep playing year round. This is where serious players sharpen their game under certified coaches who have competed and coached at the highest levels themselves.
- Structured USA Water Polo competitive pathway
- Regional league matches and tournament travel
- Individual skill cards and family progress reviews
Learn to Swim and Aquatics
Strong water polo starts with strong swimming. Our learn to swim program moves beginners from water comfort through stroke development in small, patient groups led by certified aquatics instructors. We also offer water safety classes that teach children and adults the skills to enjoy any pool with confidence. For athletes already comfortable in the water, our aquatics track adds speed work, turns, and conditioning sets designed to feed directly into water polo performance. Canyon View Water Polo Association, Inc. believes every lesson should feel like a small victory, so we celebrate each milestone from a first float to a first lap without walls.
- Private and small group learn to swim lessons
- Water safety and drowning prevention education
- Athlete conditioning sets for older swimmers
Team Training and Clinics
High school water polo programs, local clubs, and recreation teams across southern Utah bring their athletes to Canyon View Water Polo Association, Inc. for focused team training. Our coaches design custom sessions around each team needs — passing systems, defensive presses, power plays, or goalkeeper development — and run them with the same energy they bring to our own squads. Seasonal clinics tackle specific skills in half-day and full-day formats, including a signature shooting clinic, a cage keepers school, and a fundamentals camp for new players. Teams leave with a written training plan they can keep running long after the clinic ends.
